Classiky x KATA KATA Ceramic Whale Dish
Inban-te is a painting technique that uses printing techniques such as stencil printing and etching (copperplate printing). This technique developed rapidly after the Meiji period (1868-1912) and enabled the mass production of painted ceramic tableware without the need for specialized painters.
Although it is called "painting by printing," this technique at that time was prone to many defects, such as blurring, color bleeding, and unevenness of color, and in recent years, it has become a technique used only by a limited number of companies.
